Hire Me button now available on Tableau Public: New in Tableau 2021.4

Tableau Public's new Hire Me button means your portfolio of work, not just your CV, is how you get hired.

Enable it via Edit Profile, toggle the Hire Me option, agree to the terms of service and add a contact email
The feature ties into Tableau's vision of a Tableau economy where creators can demonstrate their skills and find work
Tableau Public is free, making it a strong portfolio platform where your published work speaks louder than simply claiming Tableau experience

0:03public and people have actually been able

0:05to get jobs and hide from this. It's been

0:07really sort of

0:08positive story. In Tableau Public you can

0:10now activate a hire me button for people

0:12who are

0:12looking for work on your Tableau Public

0:14profile. Now in case you missed it the

0:17Tableau conference

0:18talked about something called the Tableau

0:20economy and essentially that was three

0:22groups of people.

0:23You had Tableau partners, Tableau creators,

0:25people like you and me and then Tableau

0:27themselves and

0:28essentially this economy being created

0:30around this and a vital part of that, vital

0:33part of

0:33any economy is essentially the people who

0:35actually make content and put these

0:37resources onto that

0:38economy. And so one thing Tableau

0:40recognized they need to enable those people

0:42to find work and

0:43Tableau Public needs to become the leading

0:45kind of spear of that rather than something

0:47like

0:47LinkedIn. At any one time if you google on

0:49LinkedIn or search on LinkedIn and you know

0:52you find

0:52thousands of jobs about Tableau but what is

0:56often not the case is that people aren't

0:59actually leading

1:00with examples of their work so you often

1:02find you get people going for jobs who don

1:04't have actually

1:05much experience building Tableau. They've

1:07opened it a few times and so Tableau Public

1:08is trying

1:09to take that back by letting people

1:11demonstrate their capability with Tableau

1:13through their

1:14profile. And so in the Tableau 21.4 release

1:17officially at least the hire me button is

1:19now

1:19something that's going to be available but

1:21it was actually made available a while ago.

1:23So let me

1:24show you how to enable this if I click edit

1:26profile you'll see that your profile comes

1:28up

1:28here on this page and you can actually go

1:30down here to this little button and it says

1:32display

1:33a hire me button on my profile so others

1:35can contact me about work opportunities in

1:38the

1:38future. By opting in you agree to Tableau

1:40Public's terms of service then you give it

1:42an email. Now

1:43the email in here is obviously just going

1:45to be your default one that's used by Table

1:47au Public

1:47but nonetheless put that email then and hit

1:49save and when you do you have a hire me

1:53button right

1:53there so now people can reach out to you

1:55and can sort of you know find out what you

1:58're up for. Now

1:59I work at the information lab so if you

2:00hire me that's going to end up starting a

2:02conversation

2:03with the information lab that sort of goes

2:05without saying. So I think that's nice for

2:07people who

2:08maybe don't have a role in analytics yet

2:09who are looking for role have invested a

2:11lot of time

2:12learning Tableau very quickly and now are

2:14starting to sort of find ways of trying to

2:17get into the

2:18community of work and actually just getting

2:20hands-on experience. So I think you should

2:21do

2:22this if you're passionate about getting

2:23hired with Tableau. I think this will

2:25become the new default

2:26for basically having a portfolio of work

2:28that people can see because again Tableau

2:30Public is

2:31free you don't need a license to have a

2:32portfolio of work so going forward I think

2:34you'll very much

2:35need to speak with the quality of your work

2:37rather than just saying that you spend time

2:39at Tableau.

In the Tableau 2021.4 release of Tableau Public, you can now enable a button to show potential recruiters and followers that you’re available for work with the “Hire me” button.

Here are the steps: 1- Sign in to Tableau Public, navigate to your profile page, and select Edit profile 2-Select Available for Hire 3-Confirm your email address 4- Review the Tableau legal terms 5-… and voila, the Hire Me button will display on your profile page!
