Video 1 Tableau explained in under 10 mins!
You've heard of Tableau, you've seen a demo, but what actually is it? Here's the whole platform in under 10 minutes.
Tableau is a visual analytics platform for exploring and presenting data through fast, interactive dashboards hosted on Tableau Cloud or Server. Over the last decade, Tableau has expanded to cover six main products and a wealth of mature, industry-loved capabilities. It’s the platform I cut my teeth on, and the one I still reach for.
The visual analytics benchmark that turns drag-and-drop into interactive, governed dashboards anyone can explore.
Tableau is not one product but a family. Here is the map, and where each piece fits in the work.
The original drag-and-drop authoring tool, and still the core of the craft: explore, build vizzes, assemble dashboards.
My posts →Where the work is published, shared and governed. Cloud is hosted, Server is on-premises; both include web authoring.
My posts →Visual clean, pivot and join flows in Prep Builder; Prep Conductor schedules them on Cloud or Server.
My posts →AI-driven metric monitoring that pushes trends and anomalies to you, instead of waiting for you to open a dashboard.
My posts →The Salesforce agentic analytics platform on Data 360, with Tableau Semantics and Tableau Agent underneath.
My posts →The free community edition, publish-only. Where my downloadable vizzes live, and the best zero-cost way in.
My posts →New to Tableau, or new to my Tableau content? Start with the three the community watched most.

Video 2 I promise that if you watch this from start to finish, you'll go from zero understanding of Tableau to a dashboard published online.
Video 3 How do you make data prep visual? Here's how Tableau Prep tackles it in under 10 minutes.
I don't know how I managed to watch over five hours of video, including pausing, reversing and forwarding the course, so I would give this guy 10/10. Great stuff.
This is my first Youtube comment. Tableau Tim is an absolute beast. 0 to Tableau wizard is 3 hours. 5 star content. 5 star personality.
Tim you are an inspiration to other brothers who are lost in life.
Thanks for this course and all your other work! I was able to pass my certification exam in large part due to studying this video and some of your others. You are an excellent teacher and I look forward to learning more from you as my Tableau skills grow.
I could listen to Tableau Tim all day. It's quite remarkable how I can sit through Tim's videos and not feel fidgety. Content 10/10 Delivery 10/10
Thank you Tim🙏🏼 what an incredible valuable resource you have created!

You don’t need a paid seat to learn Tableau. There are three honest routes to hands-on, depending on whether your work can be public and how much power you need.
The full desktop app, free forever — perfect for learning and building a portfolio. Handles up to 15M rows and public datasets, and lets you publish or embed vizzes anywhere. The catch: it’s not for commercial use, and your work saves to the public web, not your machine.
Get Tableau Public ↗The free desktop tier for work you can’t make public: private data, live and unsupported connections that Public won’t touch, and datasets over 15M rows. Same Tableau, kept on your machine.
Compare the free editions ↗A free personal Tableau Cloud site for developers — Desktop and Prep through web authoring, a full Creator seat plus Explorer and Viewer, and even Data Management and Advanced Management switched on. The closest thing to the whole platform, free.
Start the Developer Program ↗Useful even before I have made a thing: the latest from Tableau itself. Every link in this section leaves just-tim and opens at the official source.

When you are ready to build, the Tableau docs and community gallery are the best next stop.
