0:00Hey, it's Tim here. In 2021.2, you can now
0:03create the Show and Hide button for any
0:05object on a dashboard, not just floating
0:08objects.
0:08So this is really, really nice. Previously,
0:10what you had to do, let's say you wanted to
0:13show or hide this particular tab, you'd
0:15have to put it in a floating container.
0:17So if I let me just build something very,
0:19very quickly. So if I bring in a vertical
0:21floating, I could then go to this little
0:23drop down, and I could add the Show or Hide
0:25button to sort of enable and disable it.
0:27Now you can do that for tiled objects as
0:29well. So let me just get rid of this
0:31floating container. And let's go to this
0:33one here, you can see that this is actually
0:35a tiled object.
0:35The way I know it's tiled is if I double
0:37click it, you'll know that it you'll see
0:39that a blue icon appears. That means it's t
0:41iled inside of a container.
0:42And if I double click that again, I know
0:44that that's inside of a container. And if I
0:46double click again, you'll see that it
0:48keeps going out until the hierarchy is
0:50complete.
0:51I can also go over here to the very left
0:53hand side to the layout tab to see what
0:55that looks like. So if I go to the layout,
0:57you'll see that everything is inside of a t
0:59iled container.
1:00And then you have two horizontal containers
1:02, this one on the bottom and this one on the
1:04top. And as I click on these, you'll see
1:06that the blue highlight moves around to
1:08show me what I'm selecting.
1:10And I hate it when it does this, it puts
1:12lots of tiled sections inside each other.
1:14And this is the actual horizontal one I'm
1:16interested in. And again, if I go into that
1:19, I'm actually able to sort of get right
1:21down into this container that I'm actually
1:23interested in seeing.
1:24So that's basically a tiled setup. Now, if
1:26I go back to this particular chart, I can
1:29actually click on this drop down, if you're
1:31wondering where I am, I'm just over here,
1:33this little tiny little arrow, click on
1:35that.
1:35And when we click on that, you'll see that
1:37we get this option to add and show hide
1:39button. So this is nice, because when we
1:42add this to a tiled piece of content, if I
1:44hold option, or I think it's command or
1:47option on Windows, I think it's command on
1:50a Mac, if I hold command and tap that, it
1:52actually enables that option.
1:54So that's not working, because I've got the
1:57shortcut wrong. So if I do that, you'll see
1:59that it's actually also expanding the view.
2:02So if I hold option and hit close, you'll
2:04see that it's almost disappears.
2:06And this is a nice addition, because it
2:09allows you to have a lot more control with
2:11layout, and how everything works. I think
2:13it's just a really nice addition, you can
2:15kind of be smart with collapsing containers
2:17.
2:18What people used to have to do is they used
2:21to have to use a parameter to change a
2:23filter to do this. And now you can just do
2:25this so quickly. It's so nice to have that
2:28available. So I think this is really,
2:29really nice. And I love it.
2:30I, you know, there can't only the amount of
2:33time this would have saved me in the past.
2:35So a great feature for 2021.2. And
2:38hopefully something you'll enjoy using. If
2:40you've enjoyed this video, you know what to
2:42do. Otherwise, I'll catch you in the next
2:43video about the new feature set.
