0:00Hey, it's him here in Tableau 2021.2 Table
0:03au have actually made animations on by
0:06default in 2020.1
0:09they actually introduced animations and
0:10they were great because they allow people
0:12to start to tell
0:13stories using the transitions from one data
0:15point to the next or one state to another.
0:17And now what they've done in 2021.2 is they
0:21've essentially made them on by default
0:23which means
0:24as you play around with your visualizations
0:26things will always animate unless as an
0:29author
0:29you switch it on or off. So for example
0:31here when I select technology here you'll
0:34see that things
0:35animate that's on by default as soon as I
0:37opened up this workbook and that was
0:38something that
0:39happened so if I just deselect consumers
0:41you'll see that it changes there corporate
0:43again you'll
0:44see that that's on and the way you know
0:46this is on by default if you open up any
0:48new dashboard
0:49you essentially go up here to formatting
0:51and once you're there you go to animations
0:53and once there
0:55you'll see that the default option over
0:57here on the left hand side is on and they
0:59've got some
1:00sort of sensible smarts as well 0.7 seconds
1:03as a sensible duration for that animation I
1:06think
1:06that's actually quite a good one I like
1:08these to be a little bit crisper sometimes
1:09but sometimes
1:10when they're crispy they can sort of seem
1:12like they're stuttering back and forth so
1:14essentially
1:14I think just leave the defaults as they are
1:16unless you want to sort of really get into
1:18that and you
1:19can but that's pretty much it in a nutshell
1:21the the main thing here is that they're on
1:23by default
1:24if you start seeing animations in your dash
1:26boards and you're wondering why that's
1:28because it's now
1:28on by default so go ahead and switch it off
1:30if you don't want them there
1:31and by all means enjoy the feature I'll
1:33catch you in the next video
