Improved Quick Search - New in Tableau 2022.2

0:00In 22.2, Tableau continues to improve the

0:03search experience with Quick Search.

0:05Quick Search is essentially an enhancement

0:07that makes it easy to find past queries but

0:09also brings some nice touches to the search

0:12box.

0:12Let's get stuck in.

0:13Okay, so we're here on Tableau Cloud.

0:16When I look at the release notes for this,

0:18I think this feature is only available in

0:19Tableau Cloud at present and the changes

0:21will possibly come to Tableau Server in the

0:23future.

0:24But nonetheless, I'm here on the homepage

0:26and essentially this feature mostly lives

0:28up here in the search box.

0:30The search box has had a range of

0:31improvements in the most recent times.

0:33If I just go to the top here and I just

0:35search for something, let's say for Tableau

0:37Super

0:38Store, I can't even spell, it will do a

0:41pretty decent job of trying to understand

0:44what exactly

0:45I'm searching.

0:46And you'll see that it does actually bring

0:48back Super Store.

0:48It guessed what I was trying to do.

0:50It can look past typos and stuff like that.

0:52So that's something to be aware of.

0:57But this feature is actually a lot simpler

0:58than that.

0:59When I went into the search bar, you'll

1:01notice that the recent things I've searched

1:03are actually right at the top.

1:05So if I search for something quite often, I

1:07don't even have to type, I can just go

1:08ahead, select it and it will go and pull

1:10that search back and I'm able to find the

1:12thing

1:12I'm looking for very, very quickly.

1:14The other thing to bear in mind is that as

1:16I start typing, it will actually bring up

1:18relevant answers much, much better with a

1:21little bit of context as to what those

1:23results

1:23are.

1:24So let's go ahead and type "Overview."

1:26And as I start typing, you can see that it

1:28finds the most relevant content and you can

1:30see it's found the overview item here.

1:33And if I see that and I actually think that

1:35's the right thing, I can go ahead and click

1:37on it and we're going to have a good result

1:38and it will go straight to the piece of

1:40context.

1:41No sort of messing around.

1:42In many ways, the search itself becoming a

1:45way of navigating rather than just a search

1:47tool.

1:48So that's pretty much it.

1:49There's not much more new than that.

1:51You've got to view this in context of all

1:52the changes happening in search over the

1:54last

1:54few releases.

1:55But that's it.
