How to export to PowerPoint in Tableau Desktop 2019.1 and newer

Tableau 2019.1 finally lets you export dashboards to PowerPoint in one click, but here's why you still shouldn't try to embed a live dashboard.

Part ofWhat's new in Tableau 2019.1
  • Tableau 2019.1 lets you export dashboards straight to PowerPoint in a single step instead of saving images manually
  • The export captures every tab in the dashboard, with each becoming its own slide
  • Sheets that aren't laid out in dashboards get squeezed to fit the slide and can become hard to read, and you can't scroll within a PowerPoint slide
  • To keep interactivity such as hovering and drilling into data, give people access to Tableau Server or Tableau Online rather than trying to embed a live dashboard
  • Embedding a dashboard via a web object inside PowerPoint is a security risk and best avoided

In Tableau 2019.1, you can now natively export a dashboard to PowerPoint saving you some time if you need to burst out reports to PowerPoint decks. -----Join my Discord Server. https://discord.gg/shBuxXr it’s a little sparse at the moment but hang in there.
