0:00In Tableau 2020.2 Tableau keeps on pushing
0:03forward with the explained data
0:04enhancements
0:05they've been adding to the product each
0:07version. Today I'm going to be covering the
0:09latest
0:10additions so let's go ahead and build a
0:11view so we can actually check these
0:13features out.
0:14I'm going to connect to the sample super
0:16store here and I'm just going to wait for
0:18this to load. Now
0:19one thing to bear in mind if you've watched
0:21previous versions you'll notice that this
0:22side
0:23pane is slightly different this is because
0:25we're using the new data model and so this
0:27side pane is
0:28structured slightly differently but if you
0:30're using a similar data you can still
0:32follow along
0:33and work with this data set. So we're going
0:35to build a very simple view I'm going to
0:37drag profit
0:38onto rows then I'm going to drag profit
0:41ratio onto columns then I'm going to bring
0:44product name onto
0:45detail. That gives us this chart which has
0:48some very very obvious outliers in my last
0:51video I
0:52actually specifically looked at this out
0:54lier so it's a nice way of comparing the
0:56capability
0:57between the two versions. If I click on
0:59this dot here you can see here that the
1:01explain
1:02data icon is just right here so when we
1:04click on that we get the analysis that's
1:07available to us
1:07and that actually just renders up very
1:09quickly. In the last version you'll see
1:11that I highlighted
1:12the status bar that was actually telling
1:14you which fields were being used in the
1:16analysis
1:17and now in 2020.2 you can actually choose
1:20which fields are being used in this
1:22analysis by just
1:23clicking on this bottom option here and you
1:25can see that I can now browse dimensions
1:27and measures
1:28and have them added or removed from the
1:30analysis and so what it will do is it will
1:33actually use
1:33those fields in the analysis itself. Now it
1:36's made some pretty wise decisions here
1:39about
1:40what's going on because it's basically
1:41analyzed the data and it's made some
1:43guesses as to what's
1:44actually pertinent and what's not. It's
1:46looking at the level of detail, it's
1:48looking at the types
1:49of aggregation and it's looking at the
1:51measures. For example here it's not
1:53included in latitude
1:54and longitude, it's not included in profit
1:56ratio because that's already on the chart
1:58and so it
1:58can't be used in this particular analysis
2:00because that's the thing we're actually
2:02analyzing but it's
2:04made a couple of suggestions there that are
2:06quite sensible. You can obviously change
2:08those if you
2:08want to tweak it a little bit or get some
2:10more custom analysis going. The other thing
2:13to note
2:13is that it can now spot multiple extreme
2:15values. In this particular case I still
2:18only have one
2:18extreme value but if you've got multiple
2:21extreme values it can actually highlight
2:24these out so you
2:25don't get just one item listed here, you
2:27actually get multiple items listed out.
2:29That's pretty much
2:31the feature in a nutshell. This video is
2:33part of a much bigger playlist to look at
2:35all the
2:36explained data features that have been
2:37rolled out over the last year. Check that
2:39playlist out,
2:40otherwise if you've liked the video hit
2:42subscribe, hit the like button, otherwise I
2:44'll catch you in
2:44the next video. Drop a comment below for
2:46the content you'd like to see in the future
2:48and
2:48and I'll try and get to it at some point
2:49soon.
2:50Thank you for watching.
