0:00Hey, it's Tim here. Tableau Conference is
0:01over, but you can now catch all the content
0:03on demand on the Tableau website.
0:05In this video, I'm going to show you.
0:06Okay, so we're here at Google.com.
0:08If I just go ahead in here and paste the
0:10URL to the Tableau Conference website,
0:12you'll see that it actually redirects us to
0:14a new page, which is called Tableau.com/
0:18events/conference.
0:19Now, you can actually get to this link just
0:21by going to the Tableau website.
0:23Let me show you that now.
0:24If I go to Tableau.com, you'll see that it
0:27goes to the homepage.
0:28And if I go to Resources, then go to Events
0:30in the dropdown, you'll see that I have
0:32three options here.
0:33Tableau Conference Event Video Library is
0:35the second one.
0:36If I select Tableau Conference, we get to
0:38this place here.
0:39And if I go back to Resources, Events, and
0:41I go to Event Video Library,
0:43you'll see that we actually end up at the
0:45video library, which has content not just
0:47from this year's conference 2021,
0:49but also the previous two years worth of
0:51conference and other live events as well.
0:53If I scroll down here, you'll see that I
0:55get this nice little filter.
0:57If I go to the event name, tick Tableau
0:59Conference, go down to the year tick 2021,
1:01then we are now looking at the 2021
1:03conference content.
1:04But here's a great thing.
1:05We've also got the 2020 content and the
1:072019 content.
1:082019 was actually the last in-person
1:11content.
1:11Hence, there's 219 sessions here.
1:14The real conference is typically bigger
1:15than the virtual one, so you can expect
1:17that.
1:17So you can actually access a whole load of
1:19content here from not just this conference
1:22in 2021,
1:23but the last two or three conferences
1:25technically as well.
1:27And you can also access content from other
1:29events, the Virtual IT Summit, Tableau Live
1:31,
1:32Day-to-Dev Day, Government Summit, and
1:33Visualize Health.
1:34So this is a really great resource.
1:36It's a great learning resource for anyone
1:38who's looking to get into Tableau.
1:39Now, if you try and browse these topics,
1:42you'll see that the things that are at the
1:43top are the live Q&A.
1:45It's kind of tedious to browse through
1:47these 10 at a time.
1:49So the real kicker here is the search.
1:52So the thing to do here is to go to the
1:53search box and search for something.
1:55So let's say you wanted to know more about
1:57Tableau Online.
1:58Let's go ahead in here and type in Tableau
2:00Online.
2:00You'll see that it comes up.
2:01It does have some suggestions.
2:03If I select Tableau Online, then look, we
2:05get four options.
2:06And we get a little bit of information
2:08about what was at conference this year for
2:11Tableau Online.
2:12But if we remove the year filter, you'll
2:14see that we get even more content.
2:15And if I remove the conference filter, we
2:17get a bit more content as well.
2:19So actually, I recommend you don't even use
2:21the filter for the conference.
2:23Just search everything that's been
2:24available and you'll get far more content,
2:26not just from this year, but from previous
2:27years.
2:28And it's important to look at previous
2:29years because what you can sometimes see is
2:31the evolution of the platform.
2:33So if you watch something from let's say
2:35two years ago, and then you watch something
2:37from this year, you might actually notice
2:39some subtle hints and be able to do like a
2:42slight check for what's different and what
2:43's changed and where the philosophies are
2:45heading.
2:46So here you go.
2:46I can learn about the architecture of Table
2:48au Online, what's under the hood, how to use
2:50it better with Salesforce.
2:52There's a whole bunch of content here.
2:53Let's say you're learning about Tableau
2:55calculations.
2:56Let's just search calculations.
2:58There you'll see that it's a top hit.
3:00And again, we have 15 videos, a calculation
3:03survival guide, solving Tableau
3:05calculations, puzzles.
3:06Some of these are some of the most
3:08important sessions.
3:09LODs, lots of fun with level of detail
3:11calculations.
3:12If I just go ahead and type in LOD, LOD
3:14expressions even as a more targeted hit,
3:17you'll see that we get five sessions here
3:19that you can watch.
3:20And these sessions aren't just, you know,
3:22five, 10 minute videos.
3:23These are deep dives into the topic.
3:25So they're typically at least 25 minutes
3:27all the way up to 40 minutes.
3:28And then people often ask questions and
3:30there's often the PowerPoint or PDF
3:32resource as well associated with some of
3:34these.
3:34You can get some of these on YouTube, but
3:36this is a much, much more focused place to
3:38go and find it all.
3:39So this is a great learning resource.
3:41If you're learning a topic and you haven't
3:43come to this page and search for the
3:44conference session for it, in my opinion,
3:46you're not trying hard enough to learn that
3:48topic because this is just freely available
3:50to everyone.
3:51You do have to have an account.
3:53You can see that I'm logged in as myself
3:54here on the top right hand side as Timothy
3:56Neguena.
3:56But nonetheless, everything here is ready
3:59and available and all the content from 21
4:01Conference last week is now available.
4:04So go ahead and check it out.
4:05That's pretty much it for me.
4:06I haven't got much more to add to this.
4:08It's as simple as that.
4:09Go watch some of the best content from
4:10Conference over the last three years.
4:12If you want to know my favorite sessions,
4:14let me know in the comments below.
4:15And once I've had a chance to, you know,
4:17check out the sessions, I typically don't
4:19watch sessions until after conference.
4:21I know it sounds counterintuitive, but I
4:23tend to use the conference as an
4:24opportunity to network because people are
4:26generally in the mood to network.
4:27That includes Tableau developers and people
4:30at Tableau.
4:30So I use that opportunity to network with
4:32them.
4:33And then after conference, I go watch all
4:34the sessions and I can still reach out to
4:36people after the conference.
4:37So now is when I actually kick into the
4:39sessions.
4:40I find some of my most favorite sessions
4:41and start watching them.
4:43So by all means, get involved with this
4:45content and I'll catch you in the next
4:47video.
