Nav, Export & Toggle Button Improvements

0:00In 2020.3, Tabla have enhanced the

0:04navigation and export button controls. Now,

0:08these are

0:09very, very small adjustments. You might not

0:11even notice some of them. I've got them up

0:13here on my screen at the moment. Nav

0:15buttons insert as text buttons by default.

0:19They have

0:19square edges now. They have slightly

0:21different foreground and background colors.

0:24Most important

0:24one for me is actually the ability to do

0:26searches in this list. You can see here,

0:29you can do

0:29a searchable filter list. It's really,

0:31really sort of important. I can't believe

0:33that wasn't

0:33there in the first place, but now it is

0:35there and it's much, much easier. But let's

0:37take

0:37a look at some of these very, very quickly

0:40inside of desktop. I'm inside of the

0:42default

0:43Superstore workbook inside of Tabla desktop

0:45. I'm just going to make sure I'm on

0:47floating

0:47over here on the left-hand side, and I'm

0:49just going to drag a navigation button. And

0:52when

0:52I drop this, you'll notice they have square

0:54edges. Before, they used to have these very

0:561997 rounded edges. Thank God they've

0:59gotten rid of that. I'm also going to drop

1:01another

1:02button. In this case, I'm just going to

1:04open a download button here, and I'm going

1:06to press

1:07it right next to that. And now you can see

1:09the sort of stylistic changes. They're now

1:11very similar. So one thing they've done is

1:14align the look of these two things. And you

1:16might say, "Well, the navigation one is

1:18gray and the one on the right is black."

1:20Well,

1:20this is because it hasn't actually been set

1:22yet. This is what happens when you don't

1:24set

1:24a navigation point for one of these

1:27navigation buttons. If I hit the Edit

1:29button options,

1:30I get this interface. And when I go to this

1:32dropdown, I have a search function up at

1:35the

1:35top. So I can actually just search for

1:37something, which makes naming your sheets,

1:39again, even

1:40more important because you can use sort of

1:43nomenclature-like acronyms to section up

1:46your

1:46workbook. So it's easy to search if you've

1:48got a lot of tabs going on. But if I just

1:50type in performance here, you'll see

1:52performance comes up. If I hit Apply, you

1:54'll notice that

1:55this goes black now. So now those two have

1:58the same style. And actually, without doing

2:00anything, these buttons already look much,

2:03much, much better than they used to before.

2:06Just having a standard style makes it much

2:09easier. And actually, with a few edits of

2:11the font and the text, you can get this

2:13looking exactly as you want. And you don't

2:15lose the

2:16ability to change these navigation buttons

2:18in this particular case to an image. You

2:20just

2:20go down to the text button, star here, and

2:23select the image button. And then you're

2:25pretty

2:25much good to go. Hit Apply. Now it's an

2:28image. And now you can see it's lost the

2:29text there

2:30because I haven't actually put an image

2:32there. But this is pretty much it. This is

2:34working

2:34as you'd expect. A very small feature

2:36change. But my goodness, if you build lots

2:38of dashboards

2:39and you're using these navigation buttons

2:41instead of any of the messy old actions we

2:43used to do from blank sheets to blank

2:45sheets, then you'll find this a much, much

2:48more improvement.
