0:06If I go up here to the top, I go to Format and I select Workbook.

0:11Over here on the left hand side is something exciting.

0:15Categorical palettes.

0:17Workbook-wide categorical palettes.

0:20And you might think, oh, what about the other types?

0:23Well, they're there too.

0:25You can set these in one place across the entire workbook.

0:29It's only taken 20 years of innovation, as they like to say, to get to this point.

0:35We have color palettes directly appliable inside of Tableau, workbook wide, and the color palette tab.

0:42In fact, let me just show it to you.

0:44has also been enhanced.

0:45So let's start there and then we'll apply it across the workbook.

0:48Let's go to the colour palette, let's edit colours, and you'll see here this this looks very

0:53Very similar.

0:54If you go here to the automatic pane and just go right to the bottom, you'll see there's a new option, create custom color palette.

1:01Let's go ahead and select that and we have the ability to name our palette here.

1:05So we'll call this Tableau

1:0725 hyphen 3.

1:09You can base it on an existing one.

1:11It's super simple.

1:12Choose whatever color you like.

1:15Let's choose colorblind.

1:17You can add a swatch.

1:18This is a nicer color picker by the way.

1:21It's a much nicer to use.

1:22And uh yeah, let's just add a boring color to this and you can even paste the swatch, which is kind of nice.

1:28Hit save and there you go.

1:30Tableau 25.

1:313 is there in the list.

1:32It's right at the bottom.

1:34And if I hit okay, so let's go back to something with categorical colours.

1:38Yeah, this will do.

1:40This top colouring here, let's go ahead

1:42and change that edit colors go to the drop down there it is um hit assign palette hit okay and perfect

1:52Now you're probably wondering, well, let's see this work on the workbook then, Tim.

1:55You've told us the the the great story.

1:58Maybe let's go to this one, okay?

2:00Over here on the left hand side tab, if you haven't got this tab, go to Format, Workbook, and then you'll see this tab.

2:08At the top, you'll see our nice newly created one is right there.

2:12Go ahead and hit it.

2:13Everything gets applied.

2:14Now you might see, okay, I didn't see a change there.

2:16Okay, let's change it to something else.

2:18Let's change it to Lightning Sunrise

2:21You can see everything that uses a color palette is going to be set to that and you get this little dot that allows you to reset to default.

2:28So if you don't like what you're doing, you can just get rid of it.

2:30Just go ahead and hit that.

2:32And everything goes back to normal.

2:34Diverging color palettes also have their own little drop-down.

2:37Obviously, when you create those, those appear in the list.

2:40And yeah, it's just a much, much nicer experience.

2:43Now here's the thing

2:45Inside of the formatting pane, there's been a new option that was added in a previous release, which was about importing and exporting custom themes.

2:53So, where this is important is that you can essentially now

2:58Set a theme and the theme can dictate a bunch of things around styles, uh, formatting, fonts, and stuff like that.

3:05But then your color palette can now be much easier to apply on the flyer.

3:10Especially when you have let's say slightly different color palettes for slightly different scenarios, it's now actually worth investing the time and having that kind of setup.

3:18uh to do that so this feature is great it's it's really simple I don't think I I really needed a video to show you how it works so there we have it.
